Vivo Y20 is another addition to the “Y” series of phones. Like other phones in this list, it comes with the 5000 mAh battery, Snapdragon 460 mid-range processor, 13MP primary rear and 8MP front camera.
I know the specs aren’t promising, but they are apt for the casual user. I would recommend this phone only to those on a tight budget and can’t afford to spend more than 13000 because 6GB+64GB variant costs around 15000 and is not worth the cash. 4GB variant, however, is value for money.
If you can stretch the budget to 15000, I would suggest you go for the Z1 pro or Y19 instead.
Design and build quality
Design of Y20 is good and matches the trend these days. From shiny back and iPhone style camera setup on rear to power button mounter fingerprint reader, it looks very premium.
It is made of plastic but feels sturdy. You get the power button and volume buttons on the right and the left side is pretty much left blank with just the triple card sim tray slot.
At the bottom you get the micro USB charging port with speakers and audio jack.
Vivo Y20 does not justify its price tag in terms of display quality. You get a 720p HD+ teardrop notch display that works alright, but considering that other brands like RealMe and Xiaomi offer full HD display under 10000 rupees it shows Vivo’s overconfidence in its brand name.
The colors are right, and media consumption is enjoyable if you keep the phone at a distance, but as you move it close to the eyes, you might notice some pixelation. Besides that, it gets plenty bright for outdoor usage.
Although we did not test the camera performance thoroughly, we were satisfied with the performance whatever time we got.
The user reviews suggest that the rear camera lacks details and the front camera isn’t the best either. I would not comment on the camera output because we did not test it enough. So, if you are a camera fanatic, then you can skip this one.
You can leave all your battery worries behind when you carry this device with you because it features an awesomely massive 5000mAh battery coupled with HD display, enough to get you through the day even with heavy usage.
The battery is well supported by the 18W FlashCharge technology which can top it up to 100% in approximately 2.5 hours. The charging time may seem higher as per the fast charging standards, but that is perfectly fine for a 5000mAh battery. All in all, we are impressed with the battery performance.
Performance is always a subjective matter, and yours and my requirements may be different. This phone can play all the games in medium settings due to the Snapdragon 460 octa-core processor onboard.
Snapdragon 460 is an excellent mid-range processor. However, MediaTek P65 still beats it hands down. The choice is yours. If you want the latest design and side-mounted fingerprint reader, you will do well with the Y20, but if you like the design of Y19, that should be your pick.
Vivo Y20 is a bit hard to recommend, but it is the latest device, other devices like Y19 or Z1 pro could be out of stock soon. In that case, you can choose Y20 or look for other options in this price segment, or you could wait for vivo to launch a better phone.
It is hard for me to recommend this phone as the best vivo phone under 15000.
